Twelve youth and adult sponsors traveled to San Antonio last week in order to participate in the triannual Episcopal Youth Event (EYE). The theme of the event was Sown in the Heart of Christ, and for five days we participated in an intense experience of worship, small groups, large group sessions with high energy praise music, and went to forums and workshops that ranged from learning how to knit and play the guitar to presentations on how to be more effective youth leaders. There was also lots of free time which allowed for building new relationships (the bond between Nevada and Nebraska grew particularly strong). Mostly importantly, our own diocesan youth got to know each other better, and it's safe to say that new friendships are growing from this experience.

Highlights of the week included the presence of our own former bishop and now Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori, who gave a talk on how to find the good soil in our lives, a trip to San Antonio in order to experience the wonderful cultural diversity there, and a Fiesta! celebration in which each diocese had a table which highlighted the culture of their state. Our group set up a Texas Hold'em and blackjack table, and we collected lots of trinkets and t-shirts as youth from other dioceses lost their hands.

Diocesan participants were Christine Adelaja, Sarah Abbot, and Dion Woodward from Grace in the Desert, Sabreana Robinson (Christ Church), Matthew Pokorny (All Saints), Janeth Garcia (Todos los Santos), Hannah Knight (St. Paul's, Elko), and Tracee Rolfson and Jeff Devon from St. Paul's, Sparks. Adult sponsors making the trip were Jeff Paul (St. Peter's, Carson City), Bill Hummel (Grace in the Desert), and Karen Johanns (Trinity, Reno).
